Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

WHAT IT TAKES TO CREATE YOUR VIDEO

Video production is a collaborative effort and yet the client generally only sees the shoot days which is a fraction of what it actually takes to create a good video. Here is a list of what we do.

Production planning: listen, brainstorm, research information, plan location, create outlines/scripts/shot list.

Shoot day: travel to shoot, set up equipment, coach talent, get releases signed, revise scripts/ outlines, shoot interviews, shoot b roll, tear down, travel home.

Ingest footage: upload into computer, log, take notes.

Rough cut edit: Take hours of raw footage and cut it down to its most meaningful essence. Research music, upload music, record voice overs, collect more b roll, import, log b-roll, take pictures, import pictures, crop, add motion, design and add graphics, add titles, add credits, compress & upload for client's first review.

Semi final cut review: make client changes, color correct, mix sound, tighten edits, tweak graphics, purchase royalty free music, re upload music, re-compress, upload again for client review.

Final cut: make final client changes, finalize information (fact check) add credits, create a high def version for web or DVD.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

Costs vary depending upon the production. Will the video need simple titles or animation and motion graphics? How many shoot days are involved? Will there be travel? Contact Padma Video and we will provide you with an estimate based on your concept.

CAN I USE MY OWN FOOTAGE OR PICTURES?

Sometimes. As a rule, we want our client's image to look professional. So if you have great video or stills that you own the rights to, let's use 'em! Occasionally, cell phone or homemade video looks appropriate (to illustrate someone's past or a moment caught on camera) but using a lot of it can cheapen your business or non profit's image.
